EARA Privacy Policy
The European Association for Research on Adolescence (EARA) is strongly committed to creating a secure online environment for all users and members. In doing so, EARA adheres to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), approved by the EU Parliament on 14 April 2016 and in effect as of May 25, 2018 (for more info you can see: https://www.eugdpr.org/)
Your personal information
If you wish to join EARA as a member you are asked to create a personal EARA account at https://www.earaonline.org/. Certain personal information is required to create the account, and is stored in your profile: first name, last name, email, password (not accessible by EARA). These fields are mandatory for creating an account. Additional personal information is optional (e.g., degree, university affiliation), so you can decide freely whether to include it or not.
You have the right to view, amend, or delete the personal information that we hold about you at any time. For doing this, you can login in the website and access your personal page. You can also delete your account completely .
Website users cannot display your personal information. Only other EARA members can see it after logging in the website and accessing the Members directory. The only personal information that is available to other members is: first name, last name, email.
Your personal information is never shared with third parties for commercial ends. EARA does not provide, sell or rent members’ information to anyone outside the organisation.
EARA uses Ultimate Membership Pro as membership system. This service provider declares to be GDPR compliant, https://codecanyon.net/item/ultimate-membership-pro-wordpress-plugin/12159253. This means that our membership service provider makes sure that your rights can be protected.
Email communication
EARA sends you email regarding the association activities and news that might be of interest to you (e.g., latest publications on adolescence). You can choose not to receive these emails by clicking the unsubscribe link in any e-mail. Please note that you are not permitted to unsubscribe or opt-out of non-promotional messages regarding your account, such as account verification and renewal notices.
Security
EARA takes serious precautions to protect your information. When you submit sensitive information logging in your private area, your information is protected both online and offline.
Wherever we collect sensitive information, that information is encrypted and transmitted in a secure way. You can verify this by looking for a lock icon in the address bar and looking for “https” at the beginning of the address of the web page.
While EARA uses encryption to protect sensitive information transmitted online, we also protect your information offline. Only council members who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, processing your membership) are granted access to personally identifiable information.
